Mareike Willems is about to finish her Bachelor’s degree in Integrated European Studies at the University of Bremen, focusing on European Integration, Political Economy and Climate Policies with special interest in climate justice and social justice.
During her long-term study visits abroad at the Maastricht University in the Netherlands and at the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg in Russia, she specialized on global political economy and EU policy. In the meantime, Mareike is engaged in various social projects connected for example with the Heinrich Böll Foundation, striving for international cooperation, climate mitigation and intercultural exchange.
To supplement her study interests in climate policies with practical experience, she absolved an internship at Germanwatch e.V. in Berlin, where she organized study trips for international delegations and assisted in developing decarbonization strategies.
Mareike joined the greenwerk. in April 2018 as an Analyst supporting the team on climate policies and climate finance topics.
