He has more than 10 years of work experience in energy and climate topics. He is specialist for SIDS renewable energy, NAMA concepts, innovative MRV approaches and marginal abatement cost curves. Futhermore he is an energy sector specialist and a carbon project consultant. Stefan is a graduate of the University of Flensburg (EUM), Germany and received his diploma in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Energy and Environmental Management (Energie- und Umweltmanagement) in 2005.
Stefan is a graduate Industrial Engineer with specialization in Energy and Environmental Management with a degree from the University of Flensburg, Germany. He has more than 13 years of experience in the energy and climate change and is an experienced project coordinator, energy analyst and consultant.
Based on his work experiences at Vattenfall Trading Services GmbH and The Bosten Consulting Group (BCG), Stefan is an energy sector specialist, with extensive work experience in the assessing and planning projects and programmes in the (renewable) energy sector and in developing carbon mitigation activities in developing countries for multiple sectors. He has profound expertise on developing climate finance proposal, such as for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the NAMA Facility through the involvement in numerous projects for identification and design of mitigation measures worldwide. Since operation of the GCF, he has been assigned to review and evaluate numerous GCF proposals for the Climate Finance Advisory Service (CFAS).
Stefan has worked on multiple Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) / GCF concepts for NDC implementation, ranging from Concept Notes to full implementation plans in many countries around the globe, such as Mexico (Sustainable Housing NAMA), Peru (TRANSPeru), Chile, Ethiopia, India, Viet Nam, Macedonia, Egypt, Tanzania, Seychelles (Seychelles 100% Renewable Energy Strategy- SeyRES 100)) and for international clients. He has been involved in capacity building programmes on mitigation and MRV as well as in the development of NAMA guidance documents for UNDP and the UNFCCC. Additionally, his strong expertise on creating innovative MRV approaches for mitigation activities is based on profound knowledge of the CDM (incl. PoAs) and other emission accounting standards as well as detailed background on international climate policies.
Stefan is listed as NAMA Trainer for GIZ and is GIZ Capacity WORKS certified.
