He has more than 10 years of work experience in energy and climate topics. He is specialist for SIDS renewable energy, NAMA concepts, innovative MRV approaches and marginal abatement cost curves. Futhermore he is an energy sector specialist and a carbon project consultant. Stefan is a graduate of the University of Flensburg (EUM), Germany and received his diploma in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Energy and Environmental Management (Energie- und Umweltmanagement) in 2005.

He has more than 10 years of experience in energy and climate policy, and is an experienced project coordinator, energy analyst and consultant.
After his studies, including study-abroad experiences in Australia and Denmark, he completed a trainee programme at Vattenfall Trading Service GmbH, Germany, where he worked as Intraday Manager for the German and European electricity market.
From 2006 to 2009, Stefan was employed at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as an Energy Analyst within the global Knowledge Group focussing on renewable energies, sustainable development and carbon markets, as well as power generation of German and US utilities. He was based in Hamburg, Germany and Atlanta, USA.
In 2009, he joined Perspectives GmbH, providing consultancy service on national mitigation strategies, climate policy advice and carbon projects. As Consultant and Project Coordinator for carbon project services (e.g. Programmes of Activities (PoA) and CDM/JI project development, and voluntary standards), economic and risk assessments related to carbon markets especially in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects he has gained expert knowledge of the CDM & PoA regulation and development.
Furthermore, he has profound expertise in conceptualising Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) in developing countries and innovative MRV approaches through the involvement with the identification and design of numerous NAMAs. Stefan has worked on multiple NAMA conceptualisation projects from NAMA Concept Notes to full NAMA implementation plans in many countries around the globe.
